The Best 4th of July Fireworks in Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley – 2015

Colorful fireworks light up the night sky.

Looking for great Fireworks on Independence Day 2015?  This year the 4th of July is on a Saturday!  So we have the entire weekend to celebrate, feast and fete. Not all townships and municipalities will have fireworks or parades.  Some will have festivities on the 3rd but not the 4th – but that stretches out the FUN!

As of the writing of this here’s the list of the best options in town.  It looks like the City of Allentown is planning a BIG party for the week.  If you have other fireworks additions leave a comment and it will get added to the list.  Thanks.

Here’s the list:

1. Steelstacks, Saturday – 7.4.15   The Allentown Band will play and Fireworks will be provided by Embassy Bank.  It should be a wonderful show.

2. Bethlehem City – Saturday 7.4.15-  If the fireworks display from Sand Island Park gets mixed in with the Steelstacks fireworks should have the river valley rockin’!

3. Allentown City – Thursday thru Wednesday 7.2.15- 7.8.15 – There will be a 4th of July Celebration on Linden Street starting at 5:30 right in front of J. Birney Crumb Stadium (gates open at 4:30).  The festival will be family friendly with live bands, dancing, food trucks, and games for the kids.  The fireworks will be at J. Birney Crum Stadium which are put on by the city of Allentown.

4. Nazareth Day – 7.18.15 – It’s a week later but Nazareth will have  fireworks during Nazareth Day always the 3rd Saturday in July every year.

5. Upper Macungie Township – 7.3.15 – FRIDAY NIGHT! – at the Earl Adams Memorial Park in Breinigsville.  Rain date is 7.5.15

6. Township of Salisbury – 7.4.15 – at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom.  This a charged event however you get to use the rest of the amusement park!  It will cost the price of admission into the park.

7. IronPigs stadium – 7.3.15 – FRIDAY NIGHT .  This is also a charged event but you will get to see the IronPigs play against The Rochester Red Wings.  There will be a “3-D Fireworks Extravaganza” on display after the game.  GO PIGS!!!

8. Easton, PA7.12.15 – Heritage DayThere will be no 4th of July fireworks in the City of Easton.  The fireworks will be done during Heritage Day on Larry Holmes Drive.

9. Northampton Country Club – Saturday 7.4.15 – It’s a private country club so you will have to find a nearby spot to enjoy the festivities.

10. Brookside Country Club – Saturday 7.4.15 – It’s a private country club also so you will need to find a public vantage point to watch the extravaganza in the sky.

A note: Everyone I spoke to said starting time”around 9:00 pm” .  So be there with your blanket or chairs before dark…you know the drill….

Wishing everyone a safe and festive 4th of July!!

West Bethlehem

I want to tell you about my part of town, West Bethlehem.  Do you like tree lined streets?…nice people?…finding a quiet place to run, or walk the dog?  Move to the Westside! It’s a great place to live.

The general boundaries of the Westside are from the Lehigh River north to Route 22, the western edge is Club Ave., and the eastern side is Main Street downtown.

The Westside is made of various neighborhoods.  Places called Mt. Airy, Rosemont. Rosemont, Rosemont Manor, Old Rosemont, Kaywin, Beth-Allen Gardens, Fireside Estates, Alexander Park, Catasauqua Gardens, Central Park West, Riverview, Monocacy Village plus there are lots of neighborhoods which don’t have names but they are all very nice places to live.

Generally speaking most of the west side is made up turn of the century architecture.  The numbered avenues and named street are lined with twin (double) homes.  Some are quite small while others are 3 floors full of huge rooms and space.  Craftsman homes, big Victorian mansions and Cape Cod homes also dot the landscape.  And then nestled along the Lehigh River are townhomes, apartments and a large apartment building and then right in the middle of things is Hold Family Manor the retirement community which was started in one of the original mansions of the time.

But here on the west side from morning to night you will see citizens walking, running, strolling, out with babies and dogs – all enjoying the tree lined streets and quiet avenues.   We really enjoy our neighbors and neighborhood. Though we may not know one another by name we still say hello when we pass on the sidewalk.

Interestingly enough, when people move to the Westside of Bethlehem, many do not leave.  If in need of a larger home, the new house usually is still in the neighborhood; just down the street or around the corner from the old house.

Local retailers are all close by.  Highways and byways are close too.  There are a few restaurants within walking distance and Main Street is not far either.
